In the traditional old time before 1960's people follow traditional lifestyle follow ancient scriptures and Ayurveda and during that time the average life expectancy was 100 years. But after the advent of refined industry this scenario drastically came down. The average life expectancy came down to 65 years.
Earlier people valued their health and way of living and therefore consume food that is found naturally and stay fit at old ages. As the population was increasing rampantly since 1960's from 50 crore to currently 134 crore, people demands were increased manifold. Because of the refined industry they are getting cheaper alternatives and because of the widened gap between rich and the poor, the poor ought to be attracted to the alternatives believing on the modern science and dumping their traditional way of living.
By believing in the statistics these alternatives ought to cause much harm then financial benefits, acting as slow poison which goes unnoticed among the common people. Today, the diseases are much more brutal and catastrophic.
When it comes to refined oil, the industry came as the demand went haywire due to the population increase. Today the edible oil demand rose to 20 crore liters per day catering the population of 134 crore Indians. People dropped traditional wooden pressed Kacchi ghani oil as the inflation rose and the price of oil seeds increases manifold and the people in the rural areas couldn't afford it and opted for cheaper market alternatives.
Refined oil which is being openly adulterated via cheaper palmoline oil or crude oil
· only to gain profit from the business not having consideration for people's safety and health.
For the rich olive oil being widely consumed in India as it is priced so high. Olives came from Europe originated in Italy from where it is exported worldwide. Since India imports 99% of olive oil it costs inexplicably high. With Rajasthan government efforts mandated certain parts of farmland to grow olives and some other states, 1% is manufactured in India which again subjected to adulteration to cater the needs.
India is full of rich oil seeds which are equally healthy if consumed cold pressed like groundnuts, sesame, flaxseed, mustard etc. Cold pressed method is basically that traditional way of extracting oil at room temperature without a pinch of heat to disturb their rich nutrient composition.
Its high time people should choose healthier options rather than fooled by advertisements which are benefited by their poor choices.
